Consider how you would factor the following quadratic expression as you answer problem:

\( - 4 x ^ { 2 } + 4 x + 48 \)

Answer

First Divide through by 4

\(= - x^{2} + x+ 12\)

Then expand the x term

\(= - x^{2} - 3x+ 4x+ 12\)

Then factorize

\(= - x(x+ 3)+ 4(x+ 3)\)

\(= (x+ 3)(4- x)\)
